Our college provided with a National Service Scheme under IHRD NSS Cell. 40 students from each batch can join as a volunteer. The main activities of NSS this year was vegetable plantation, noon meals programme, detergent making, awareness classes about anti ragging, sexual harassment, anti drugs. Our NSS volunteers had also got a chance to attend the National youth festival Camp held at Delhi.
The Motto of NSS "Not Me But You", reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. NSS helps the students develop appreciation to other person's point of view and also show consideration to '/other living beings. The philosophy of the NSS is well doctrined in this motto, which underlines/on the belief that the welfare .of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society on the whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society.

As a part of aids day celebration NSS Unit of CAS Kattappana had prepared, practiced and perfomed a drama named "kanakkupusthakathile jeevithangal". Great task were done for the preparations. We did a drama workshop and sort out 10 perfoming students to act in the drama. Prepared a fresh story and practiced around 2 days. As a result, our drama got second price in drama competition conducted by district medical office as a part of aids day awareness campaign. volunteers received the award from Hon’ble Minister for Electricity Sri. M M Mani. The drama was performed in different stages after it.
now a days most of the students have their own bikes and vehicles.It was a true fact that many of students were affected with major or minor road accidents. So nss unit of cas kattappana planned to conduct a road safety seminar on campus in association with suraksha charitable society. we were contacted them and they were glad to perform the seminar in our campus since as a their 12 th year celebration. respected sub inspector of police mr. P J Varghese were conducted a 3 hour class followed by inauguration ceremony and there were an interaction session with students. kattappana municipality education standing committee chairman mr. Benny kallupurayidam was inaugurated the function. Principal Mr.Antoo T V, president of suraksha Fr.Immanuel kizhakkethalakk were delivered speeches and nss P O mr. Merbin John delivered vote of thanks.
3) Nss volunteers did a survey based on household waste managements. It is also focussed to find out how people dispose the organic and nonorganic waste in their house. Took a Census on number of pits and composts in houses. in addition to this water management system, vegetable gardens, plastic use everything is noted down during the survay. while doing survey, some of the volunteers gave awareness on how to develop a proper waste management system. talked about green protocol, harithakarma sena.. etc. some of them show demo for the same and help the people in the maintainance of existing composts and pits of waste management. they prepared report based on the survey and hand it over to the municipality to further processes..
NSS unit of CAS Kattappana arranged November 1 st "kerala piravi" celebrations in college. it was not only just a celebration but also a clear discussion and observation on the Kerala after the flood. most of the students delivered speeches and opinions about rebuild kerala activities. also discussed about social and cultural crisis that happened in our society after flood and find out good tackling methods for it. debate was conducted on the basis of "New Kerala New Vision". Many cultural activities also arranged during the occasion. All NSS volunteers was in traditional kerala dress on this day.
